  • Recap TroopsDirect’s best 2015 stories on YouTube!

    By TroopsDirect

2015 was quite a year, and we shipped more mission-necessary and lifesaving supplies to our deployed troops than ever before.  We couldn’t have done it without your tremendous support, coupled with the support of our corporate friends.

If you didn’t know, we’ve got a great YouTube channel, and as we build it out, we are featuring the popular “Weekly Updates” that you see on Facebook.  We have placed them on a playlist on YouTube and they’re called “Troops Direct Support Reports.”

Take a look; maybe you’ve missed some of the outstanding stories and concrete examples of what we do on a daily basis.  You can see the amazing fire suppression blankets (manufactured by Tactical Medical Solutions, Inc.) that we sent overseas, as well as learn about how troops in the field requested Helios Systems, used to prevent and manage hypothermia.  One of our most-often requested items?  Hand-held and wrist-top #GPS units. When our troops request it, we deliver.  Fast.  Nutrition bars, socket wrenches, you name it, we’ll send it.  No red tape!

  • Military Observances and Significant Dates: 2016
    December 14th, 2015

Yesterday, our grateful nation celebrated the birthday of the National Guard.  On December 13, 1636, the first militia regiments in North America were organized in Massachusetts. Based upon an order of the Massachusetts Bay Colony’s General Court, the colony’s militia was organized into three permanent regiments to better defend the colony. Today, the descendants of these first regiments – the 181st Infantry, the 182nd Infantry, the 101st Field Artillery, and the 101st Engineer Battalion of the Massachusetts Army National Guard – share the distinction of being the oldest units in the U.S. military.

As 2016 approaches, it’s a good time to look ahead at upcoming observances and significant dates– for our men and women in uniform, their friends and families, and for an entire grateful nation.

  • YOU can support TroopsDirect through the holidays…and beyond!
    December 10th, 2015

    By TroopsDirect

Did you know that Amazon Prime has a giving program called Amazon Smile Foundation– and through this, you can direct 0.5% of your eligible purchases to TroopsDirect?  It’s especially great during the holiday shopping/shipping season, but it works year-round! Here’s what you do:

–Shop Amazon but enter in this URL: www.smile.amazon.com

–Select TROOPSDIRECT as your charity (make sure you do it as all one word!)

–The Amazon Smile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to TroopsDirect, which goes right to helping our service members!

You can also help our deployed servicemen and women by donating directly and securely from the TroopsDirect website.  We are a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.  Better yet?  We work tirelessly to make sure that $0.97 of every $1.00 goes directly to our troops.  We are a lean, no-frills organization.

    Consider this:

–When medics in a combat zone were waiting over 4 weeks for additional stretchers, stethoscopes, syringes and gauze from their own military supply lines, TroopsDirect filled their request for help in less than 3 hours.

–When one unit was waiting over 12 months for parts to fix a broken down generator, TroopsDirect acquired and shipped the needed parts. IN 72 HOURS.

–When one battalion was resorting to using bottle caps to mark where land mines were emplaced, TroopsDirect was there with over 50 cases of chalk powder for marking these areas and saving American lives.

$20, $50, $100…whatever you can give will be well spent and is guaranteed to save lives of our men and women in uniform.  Thank you for helping us!

  • U.S. to send 100+ additional troops to Iraq: let’s support our troops!
    December 3rd, 2015

    By TroopsDirect

The Pentagon plans to send a special operations intelligence and strike force of between 100 and 150 troops to Iraq to conduct raids on Islamic State targets in Iraq and Syria, a senior Defense official told USA TODAY Tuesday.  The new troops will be above the U.S. forces already in Iraq.  The U.S.-led coalition expanded airstrikes in November to their highest level since the campaign began in August 2014.

It’s more important than ever that we support our deployed service members.  TroopsDirect is in constant contact with units, even before they ship out, so we can fill any gaps in their supplies and/or equipment before they deploy.  We get many emails and calls from units once they are overseas…and we work to fulfill those requests as quickly and efficiently as humanly possible.  We recognize that that the items our troops are requesting aren’t “fluff” things or comforts of home; they are life-saving, mission-necessary supplies.  Things like helmets, specialized gloves and eyewear, holsters for Special Forces Operators, and even black hair dye.  Hair dye???  Did you miss that story?  Click here to get the scoop!  This was an unusual shipment that was very necessary, given the part of the world where our troops were serving.

Watch this video to learn more about us, who we serve and why we do it.  God Bless our servicemen and women, and we thank them each and every day for their service.
